When the Gregg M. Sinclair Library opened its doors in 1956, it was one of the largest open-stack university libraries in the United States. The library, designed by Lemmon, Freeth & Haines, which has since evolved into the present Architects Hawaii, was dedicated to former university president Gregg M. Sinclair (1942-1955) on May 4, 1956.
Today the Library is a popular destination for UH students, faculty, and staff because they can find more than 100,000 books, magazines, sheet music, videos, CDs, DVDs, audiocassettes, phonodiscs, and other media.
On the first floor, lobby and lanai areas throughtout the building, students will find individual study carrels and also tables for group study. The library is also configured for wireless access on every floor.
Located on the Third Floor, the Center houses audiovisual media, including DVDs, videotapes, CDs, phonographs, audiocassettes, and other media, along with equipment to play these materials.
Located on the First and Third Floors, the music collection contains music scores, books about music, music dictionaries and other reference tools, and music-related CD-ROM databases. Recordings of music are available in the Wong AV Center.
Located at the thrid floor Circulation Counter, the Reserves Collection consists of print or media items that are reserved by faculty for students to use in the library. Media bookings are scheduled by faculty for use in their classrooms outside of the library.
Goverment Documents Goverment Documents Collection The Goverment Documents Collection contains United States federal documents and United Nations documents. Reference services are available at the Reference Desk, which is located on the third floor of Sinclair Library, Monday-Friday 10am-5pm and Sunday 1-4pm (closed Saturdays and state holidays). Documents are in closed shelves or off-site storage and may be requested online or by calling 808-956-8230 Monday - Friday: 8am-5pm. Please note that there is a 24-hour turnaround time.

This is the online library catalog used to search for material in the Libraries of the University of Hawaii system.
Bound Journals
Located on the Second Floor, bound collections of magazines, mostly pre-1980, are shelved and archived. Sinclair Library has mold, bugs, and dust, and we recommend wearing a dust mask before entering this area. Please see attendant at the 1st Floor Information Counter located near the entrance of the library.
Computerized Learning and Information Center (CLIC Lab)
Located on the First Floor, CLIC provides a Macintosh and PC computer lab operated by the UH Information Technology Services Division open to UH students, faculty, and staff.
Located on the Fourth Floor, the Honors Program is in its 40th year. The Honors Program has been a force for change within the University of Hawaii's undergraduate curriculum.
Industrial Relations Center (IRC)
Located on the Third Floor, Ewa wing, the IRC provides an extensive collection of reference materials emphasizing labor-management relations.
