Print Reserves Questions


What is a Print Reserve?

Allows a UH instructor or professor to request printed materials (books, photocopied handouts and articles, etc) for students to come into Sinclair Library for use. Please see Print Reserves for more information.

Fine policy?

If the item is not returned or is considered lost, $10.00 in overdue fines, a processing fee of $10.00 and the replacement cost of the item will be billed to the borrower.

Can patron renew reserve items?

2-hour and 3-hour loans may be renewed 15 minutes after the item is returned, or immediately if another copy is available except at closing. Cannot be renewed online.

1-day, 2-day, 7-day loans may be renewed 1 hour after the item is returned, or immediately if another copy is available. Cannot be renewed online.

Number of copies

Providing at least the recommended number of copies will ensure that all students have access to reserve materials.

Journal article reprints: 1 reprint per 25 students to a max of 5 copies per course (all copies to be provided by the requesting faculty, and follow the UH Copyright Guidelines, April 1992).

Personal copies: 1 personal copy per 25 students to a max of 5 copies per course.

Library books: 1 book per 25 students depending upon the availability of the library's collection.

How to put items on reserve.
  1. At Sinclair Library Circulation Counter.
  2. Send e-mail at reserves@hawaii.edu.
  3. Download and print form from the library's webpage and fax or deliver.
  4. Send via WebVoyager Request.
